Rank 9. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
In the DS system family Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were the last entries. It has a great story and was packed with features on top of the story.
Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon had almost never ending hours of content. From a camera themed minigame till the ability to scan QR codes to lay your hands on rare Pokémon outside the National Dex name it and you have it kind of content and more.

Rank 7. Pokémon Red and Blue
This game of the series was a great hit in its time. The popular first installment to the Pokémon franchise and is one of the best iterations of the game. The game was actually a challenging one, however, over the time it has become easier with tricks such as EXP share or train your Pokémon separately to the adventure that you are looking forward to.
Red and Blue were quite simple initially. In the initial game you had to train all the Pokémon separately and no one knew which one was better and how. Trial and error was the way out.
The red and Blue introduced the iconic 151 Pokémon for the first time. And not only that, but also the recognizable trainers such as the Misty and Brock are still the best legendries.
Rank 6. Pokémon Black and White 2
These were actually full sequels and not just remakes of the series. Black and White 2 were literally cult favorites of the Pokémon series. You can find in them something which others didn’t offer, and that is difficulty settings. Although you could do it after you have beaten the game. But still, this provided a new type of content for gamers. The backdrops were a delightful and in 3D combined with the fully animated Pokémon. The new thing about this franchise was triple battles.
Rank 5. New Pokémon Snap
Its first iteration came way back in 1999. That time was a time of experimentation with the Pokémon spin-offs. It was a puzzle game that too on a fixed rail system, you as a player had to earn stars by completing goals and by taking pictures of the wild Pokémon. Although many people were not too much positive when the game released but the game was an instant hit.
The gameplay of New Pokémon Snap was relaxing and nice and didn’t involve complex and taxing puzzles, quick combats and nor type-matching for overcoming Gyms. In 2021 they remade Snap and brought lots more Pokémon and brilliant graphics. Fans, both new and old, swarmed in for the game and made it one of the best Pokémon games ever created.
Rank 4. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team
Blue Rescue Team is by far the best one in the Mystery Dungeon Series among the many others in it. This game could be played in both the Nintendo DS and the GameBoy Advance. This game has garnered much popularity because of its updates and the possibility in its framework for future sequels.
Rank 3. Pokémon Platinum
The Platinum was a continuation of the Diamond and Pearl and brought in new ideas. Not only that but it also resolved many issues of the predecessors.
The biggest correction was to bring in more Fire type Pokémon as in Diamond and Pearl if you chose to Chimchar to start your game with than you would be stuck for ever without a strong Fire type in the rest of the game.
That is a nice rectification in the Platinum as there were more Mons were added to the Pokédex. Even new forms were added such as Rotom was provided five new themed forms together with other Pokémon getting changes galore.
A new Wi-Fi Plaza was also added to boost up the multiplayer experience. In this Plaza up to 20 players could join in the mini-games. This was a great improvement over the previous online features. These improvements increased the fan following of the Pokémon Platinum.
Rank 2. Pokémon Fire Red/Leaf Green
This version came in 2004. It was a strong remake for the GameBoy Advance from the original GameBoy games.
The Fire Red/Leaf Green brought back lots of colors in their worlds, brought in new sprites, art was stylized with full colors, and also new music in their mix.
The post-game content was also quite massive. The elite four and the Sevii Islands were brought into the game so that players could battle and beat them. Also, on the Sevii Isalnds the Johto Pokémon could be caught.
The remake also added the Steel and Dark types which enabled new type matching and new layers for battling out in the game.
With this remake the older fans who played the earlier version well were surprisingly new and exciting experience with this version.
Rank 1. Pokémon Heart Gold/Soul Silver
This game of Pokémon Heart Gold/Soul Silver has thrown everyone else out of competition. This game is the best Pokémon game throughout the scenario. The game is a remake of the original Pokémon Gold and Silver of 1999. However, the game brings in features from Crystal and out of the world of features to improve the overall experience in its gameplay. There were fixes done to the original and Quality of life improvements were added too.
More interestingly, you could connect with fourth generation releases and they are – Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. The amount of Pokémon added were thus became a huge number in the post-game and the content also saw an increase.
The curve is levelled in the Heart Gold and Soul Silver and that makes it the most complete. In this the buddy monster follows you on the map and there are small additions as well such as the PokéWalker which allowed you to level up as you walk.
The reasons are endless for this game to be on the list as top game over other as well games and any seasoned player will tell you that I is their favorite.
